Sam Lockyer
Director
Sam is the owner and founder of Iconic Productions and oversees all key functions within the business. Sam started the company in 2007 after completing a Masters in History, Film and TV at the University of Birmingham. He brings a wealth of experience to Iconic Productions after previously working on documentaries for Channel 5/Discovery Channel and primetime shows for Channel 4. Sam has successfully delivered over 50 short documentaries and promotional films for a range of clients in the public, private and charity sectors. When Sam’s not out on a shoot you can often find him discovering the historic parts of the world.
James Watson
Sound/Video Production
James is a Music Technology graduate of Birmingham City University/ Conservatoire. After leaving University he pursued sound for film, working with companies such as Birmingham Opera Company and Big Table Creative. In February 2014 he joined Iconic Productions for the ‘Macbeth: Blood Will Have Blood’ Project as a sound recordist/editor. Since then he has worked on a number of commissions; camera operating,  film editing, and continues as sound consultant. James also composes scores for film and background production tracks.
Rachel Gillies
Creative Partner/Collaborator
Rachel has over ten years of experience as a freelance ‘Community Film Maker’, which she describes as producing films with, for and about people on their own terms. She shares Iconic Production’s values of producing high quality work with a strong emphasis on the involvement of all participants. Her work has the specific aim of empowering, enabling and giving a voice to people involved in all kinds of positive projects in Birmingham and beyond. This includes work with youth groups, community projects, work in schools, residents’ groups, lobby groups or community-based work in the public sector. To date her work with Iconic Productions has included involvement in planning, pre-production, filming and editing on projects as diverse as promoting the work of School Nurses to filming dance workshops in a Hospice!
Jamie Parr
Creative Partner/Collaborator
Freelance Camera Operator Jamie Parr has worked with ICONIC for several years. He has collaborated with the team on a number of projects including feature length documentary ‘The Fastest Bicycle in the World’ and the ‘Making Connections’ series for Birmingham City Council. Other films he has collaborated on include Civic Square, Bournville Village Trust and Street Games plus most recently projects with the National Trust and Sacred Funk Quartet. Jamie’s favourite project to work on so far is ‘Making Connections’ because he enjoyed the challenge of filming from the back of a cargo bike. Jamie has a great eye for capturing cinematic visuals both on the ground and from the air using his drone. When he is not filming he can often be found enjoying the great outdoors. Michael B.Clifford
Creative Partner/Collaborator
Two-time BAFTA winning film director Michael B.Clifford has worked with ICONIC on a number of projects over several years having first worked with Sam on the feature length documentary film ‘Bicycle’ back in 2014. These include a co-production with Michael’s company Grand Union on feature length documentary ‘The Fastest Bicycle in the World’ and a series of short films on cycling for Birmingham City Council called ‘Making Connections’. A further short film on cycling was produced for Colmore BID in collaboration with ICONIC. Since then Michael has directed a number of shooting days on ICONIC projects including for The National Trust and Research Libraries UK while he even stepped in as sound recordist on a shoot for Civic Square – such is his versatility and commitment to the cause. When asked about working with ICONIC Michael had this to say: ‘My favourite thing is the variety of subjects we get to cover and people we meet. Sam has built up a fantastic roster of clients and crew which make the work both enjoyable and fascinating.’ When Aston Villa fan Michael is not out filming he can often be found cycling which he loves or visiting his local independent cinema to check out the latest releases.
